You may have wondered why some of your electronics cannot last long enough. Sometimes you wish you could just get good quality products that don’t go bad; after all, man can build things that withstand harsher conditions.

Replacement electronics can be expensive, and the costs can add up. Especially, the inconvenience you go through sometimes can be frustrating. All this can be avoided if you know what you should do.
First and foremost, you need to keep a SMALL stock of batteries. The batteries you need to keep would depend on which ones your devices use.
The most common ones are AAA, AA, D , CR123A, CR 2032 and 9V. There are also other types and standards, which may be a bit different from the ones which are mentioned here.
Why do the batteries do that?
According to an article on Panansonic-Batteries.com “Leakage happens when a battery is left in a device for too long, especially when it’s not used. As that device is left unused, it still periodically ‘checks’ for the remaining power. That puts a certain amount of stress on the battery, putting it at a greater risk for leakage.”
What this means for you is, that you need to periodically check your batteries especially in devices which you do not use often. One of such devices is your alarm system sensor. Others include wireless keypads for gates, remote key fobs, smoke detectors, control boards, etc. The thing you should remember is that all these wireless devices must get their batteries changed periodically.
Should you opt not to get your batteries changed on time, you run the risk of having to replace the devices which have been allowed to stay equipped with dead batteries in them. Corrosion occurs quickly and most times it irreversible in small electronic devices.
