ELK-M1DBHR Data Bus Hub – An active RS-485 bus hub specifically designed for retrofitting older alarm panels with multiple keypad wires into the ELK M1 system. The M1DBHR splits the main 485 data bus into four managed branches, allowing star topology wiring without signal loss. Each branch supports up to 2 home-run cables (8 total spurs) – perfect for homes where keypads and expanders were wired individually to the old panel. The hub actively regenerates the RS-485 signals and provides end-of-line termination on each branch to ensure proper supervision and communication integrity. This module mounts near the M1 panel and connects to the panel’s data bus terminals. By using the M1DBHR, an installer can reuse existing multi-run wiring harnesses (from legacy systems) with the ELK M1, greatly simplifying retrofit installations and maintaining robust two-way communication on all keypad and expander lines.
